How to use cdbx
Themes

Mode and Themes

In cdbx there is the concept of a Mode and a Theme.

Mode

The Mode can be either light or dark.

Theme

cdbx is themeable and a theme could be anything*, but will always be a variant of either light or dark.

How it works

The user can choose between any theme that is a light variant to be the current light theme and any theme that is a dark variant to be the current dark theme.

If the user them chooses to view the app in light mode, cdbx will apply the current light theme.

If the user chooses to view the app in dark mode, cdbx will apply the current dark theme.

System

The distinction is made between Mode and Theme to give users more freedom if they choose to follow the system appearance settings.

Following the system appearance settings means that the theme applied could shift with the time of day from a light theme to a dark theme.

By distinguishing between mode and theme, the user can apply any light or dark theme variant for their system settings, rather than just the standard light or dark themes.

As an example, they could instead choose to have github as their current light theme and synthwave as their current dark theme and the app would shift between the two if system settings were applied.
