Legal
Effective date: September 27, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of CDBX, operated by CDBX AS, a company registered in Norway (org. no. 938462127, registered address Håhammarbrautene 20, 4045 Hafrsfjord, Norway) (“CDBX,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), an AI-powered code IDE and sandbox available at cdbx.ai. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
By accessing or using CDBX, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using CDBX on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a notice in the app. Continued use of the service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
CDBX is an AI-native development environment that allows you to write, run, and publish code experiments directly in your browser. The service includes:
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.
CDBX uses GitHub OAuth as its sole authentication mechanism. By signing in, you authorize CDBX to read your GitHub profile information (name, username, avatar, and email address). You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may not share your account credentials or allow others to access the service through your account. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, you should revoke CDBX’s OAuth authorization via your GitHub settings immediately and contact us.
We may suspend or terminate your account if we believe it has been compromised, if you violate these Terms, or if your account has been inactive for an extended period.
Creating an account means we will send you email necessary to operate the service — a one-time message confirming your account, along with billing and security notices. This email cannot be turned off, as it is how we tell you about payments, account changes, and security events.
Marketing email is separate and entirely optional. We only send product updates, announcements, and promotional offers to people who have specifically asked for them by ticking the consent box at sign-up or enabling it later under Email communication in account preferences. Accepting these Terms does not opt you in.
If you do opt in, you can withdraw your consent at any time from Email communication in your account preferences, or via the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email. Withdrawing is as easy as opting in was, and does not affect your account or the service email described above.
You retain full ownership of any code, files, prompts, and content you create or upload to CDBX (“Your Content”). By using the service, you grant CDBX a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and display Your Content solely as necessary to provide the service to you.
When you publish an experiment and make it publicly accessible, you grant other users a license to view that experiment through the CDBX platform. You can revoke public access at any time by unpublishing the experiment.
You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
The CDBX platform, including all software, interfaces, designs, documentation, and branding (“Platform IP”), is owned by CDBX and protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in Platform IP except the limited right to use the service as described herein.
AI-generated code produced in response to your prompts is delivered to you as part of the service. You may use that output subject to the applicable terms of the underlying AI providers (Anthropic’s and OpenAI’s usage policies), which you can review on their respective websites.
CDBX offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed on a monthly or annual basis and grant additional AI usage credits, higher execution limits, and access to premium features. Current pricing is displayed on the Plans page within the app.
All payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. By providing payment information, you agree to Stripe’s Terms of Service. CDBX does not store your raw payment card data. Your Stripe customer ID and subscription status are stored in our database and associated with your CDBX account.
We may offer a free trial period for paid plans. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your chosen plan will automatically begin and your payment method will be charged at the applicable rate. Trial eligibility is limited to one per user and is non-transferable.
You may cancel your subscription at any time from the Plans section of your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period and you will retain access to paid features until that date.
Subscription fees and credit purchases are generally final and non-refundable, including for AI credits and compute already consumed. If you are subscribing to a paid plan for the first time, you have the right to cancel within 14 days and receive a refund of the unused portion, as described in Section 7 below.
Outside of that 14-day window, we do not offer refunds for partial billing periods or unused subscription time remaining after cancellation, except where explicitly required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was made in error, please contact us and we will review your case.
If you provide your own AI provider API keys, those keys are encrypted at rest and used solely to proxy your requests to the relevant AI provider. API usage is billed directly by the provider to your account. CDBX is not responsible for costs incurred with your provider keys.
If you are a consumer subscribing to a paid plan for the first time, you may cancel within 14 days of your first payment and receive a refund of the amount paid for that period, minus a deduction for any AI credits, compute, or other consumable usage already used during that time. To cancel within this window, contact us or cancel from the Plans section of your dashboard — either way, we will refund the unused portion.
This 14-day right applies only to a new subscription’s first billing period. After that window, cancelling stops future billing as described in Section 6.4 above, but does not entitle you to a refund for the period already paid.
You agree not to use CDBX to:
We reserve the right to immediately suspend accounts or remove content that violates these acceptable use restrictions without prior notice.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
AI-generated code is produced by probabilistic models and may contain errors, security vulnerabilities, or inaccuracies. You are solely responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating any AI-generated output before using it in production or sharing it with others.
CDBX is not responsible for the actions of third-party services integrated with the platform, including GitHub, Stripe, Anthropic, and OpenAI.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CDBX AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO CDBX IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS (USD $100).
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CDBX and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. You may close your account from within the app or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you violate these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or at our discretion with reasonable notice where practicable.
Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases. We will retain your data for a reasonable period to allow you to export it, after which it will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will remain in effect.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall be resolved in the ordinary Norwegian courts, with Stavanger District Court as the agreed venue where permitted by law.
If you have a complaint, please raise it with us first through the in-app chat, or by contacting us — we aim to resolve complaints directly and promptly. If we are unable to resolve a complaint to your satisfaction, you may also contact your national consumer protection authority or, if you are in the EU/EEA, the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform.
If you have any questions about these Terms, please get in touch, email [email protected], or call +47 953 30 337.
